Canoeing at Trent Lock - 11th June 2007
An activity that Genus members hadn't done for a long time was canoeing. In fact you have to go back to August 2002 for our previous canoeing outing, and that was back in Venture days (Duffield VSU Summer Camp 2002). So this was the first time that we had been canoeing as Genus Network.
We teamed up with Sandiacre Network for this activity, which took place at Trent Lock Activity Centre near Long Eaton.
For me this was a chance to refresh my canoeing skills being as I hadn't been canoeing for nearly 5 years now. Skills done on the day included:
- backwards canoeing (going backwards)
- turning
- emergancy stop
- running
- capsizing
Overall a good activity. Thanks to Sandiacre Network for the invite.
