Gynxiacre Summer Camp 2007
Earlier this year Genus Network originally intended to go to Scotland for this year’s Summer Camp, but due to low numbers we scrapped that idea. It was looking likely that there would be no Summer Camp this year, but then things changed following recent joint activities and link-ups with both Lynx and Sandiacre Networks. This triggered off the idea of a joint camp between the 3 Networks, and so after days of discussion and planning the joint camp was born.
7 Network members plus 1 Network Leader participated in the camp. Representing Genus were Andy, Derrick (Genus leader), and myself. For Lynx we had Danny, Tom, Martin, and Jess, whilst Lucy represented Sandiacre. The 3 Networks decided to be collectively known as Gynxiacre Network.
The camp, which took place at Cornell Scout Campsite in Snowdonia, would be known as the “stupidly wet n windy yet also mad Gynxiacre Summer Camp” or something along those lines.
The camp will be remembered for several reasons – the weather, the shock of the Lynx and Sandiacre members at the gear that Genus brought, walking up Snowdon, 2 flat tyres, and more.
