Marie Curie Sponsored Abseil - 23rd September 2007

On Sunday 23rd September 2007 Genus Network members Adam Thompson and Josh Vinall took part in a sponsored abseil down the Derbyshire Royal Infermary to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Also taking part in the abseil were members of Lynx and Sandiacre Networks as well as other members of the public.

The abseil would start 150ft above the ground, making it the highest abseil we have done (that's good for me). You could think of it as the equivelant of abseiling down Drum Hill's abseil tower 4 or 5 times.

The very start of the abseil was different to most starts. Instead of standing on the edge and leaning back we had to climb over a ledge, slide down for a bit, then lean back. After the lean it was plain sailing. I really enjoyed doing the abseil, my only gripe was that it was not high enough.

In total both Josh and myself managed to raise £97.50. We would both like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who sponsored us.
