Easter Camp 2007

Easter Camp 2007 took place at the Rydal Hall campsite near Ambleside for the third year running. We are quite fond of the campsite and the surrounding area, hense why we keep going back there. This year we were joined by Josh, making his first Scout Network camp, and Derrick's new, bigger van. Now with us having a bigger van you would probably have expected us to have taken even more kit with us than we did at last year's Easter Camp (then, we took a TV, DVD player, microwave, heater amoungst other items), but we actually decided not to go so crazy this time around. Anyway, enough about what gear we took to camp, what about the camp itself.

Day 1

As usual we set off from Duffield early morning (having packed the previous evening) and headed up the M6 on route to the Lake District. We arrived at Windermire at around 8:00am where we called in for breakfast at a cafe (actually, THE cafe). Then it was off to the campsite for setting up camp.

Main activity for the day was a boat trip from Ambleside to Windermire, and then back.

Day 2

On the second day we went for to hike up Scafel Pike. We used this hike as the start of training for the Queen's Scout Award Expedition that we hope to undertake in 2008

Day 3

The third day was more of a chillout day. We started off by checking out the town of Keswick before heading back to camp for an end-of-camp BBQ.

Overall another succesful Easter Camp, very enjoyable, and the weather was very good to us.
