Bottle Rockets! - October 2005

A regular activity back in the days was bottle rockets. Spend the morning building rockets, then take them down to Eyes Meadow in the afternoon to launch them. Simple as that! Over the years, our rocket building skills have improved to the point where they are pretty lethal, and we have to ensure the field is fairly clear before launching them. The speed of one of the last launches was estimated to be around 100mph, calculated from the video framerate. Some rockets have a brass weight in the end to aid balance, and bury themselves into the ground on landing. All good fun!
