Belper District Sunrise Event

On Wednesday 1st August 2007 Scout members from all over the world gathered at various venues across the globe to celebrate 100 years of Scouting, and this was certainly the case at Morrisons supermarket in Belper where the Belper District Sunrise event took place.

Representing Genus Network were Andrew Brownson and Adam Thompson along with the other scouting sections. Belper Districts event was not as high-key as some of the other sunrise events in Derbyshire, but was still well attended with most Scout Groups, Explorer Units, and the Scout Network all represented. After a number of speeches were read out by the various ADC’s a kudo horn was blown to signify 100 years of Scouting. Once the formal sunrise event finished attendees were able to tuck in to some celebratory cake, ideal for breakfast.

It was great to be able to join in with the centenary celebrations in Belper District. Here’s to the next 100 years of Scouting!
