Alton Towers Camp 2006

Genus Network made an appearance at this year's Alton Towers Camp, but only one member, Adam, actually went. Oh well, here is his report of the camp.

This year I attended my first Alton Towers Camp as a Scout Network member. The last one I attended was back in 2003 when I was still a Venture Scout (then a dying breed, now extinct), and I was the only member of my unit to attend. This year was kind of the same, I was the only member of Genus Network to attend. Thankfully though Sandiacre Network kindly allowed me to hang out with them, so a BIG thank you to Sandiacre Network. Anyway onto this year camp shenanigans.

Friday Night was nibbles night before we hit the bar and disco.

Saturday we went to good old Alton Towers. This year we went on "Rita Queen of Speed", which is so fast, "Nemesis", "Air", "Oblivion", and "Spinball Wizard". One recurring theme which seemed to happen everytime we queued for a particular ride was that it then suffered a "technical difficulty" (Air seems to suffer them a lot). Thankfully we still managed to do all of those rides.

After Saturday Night tea it was time to get ready for fancy dress, when we all became a mob of "Ozzy Osbournes". It was good fun and I am sure that Sharon (Osbourne) would say that we all looked "fabulous".

Overall a great camp. Hopefully there will be more than just one Genus member attending next year.
